Insurance Europe assessment of Solvency II EP amendments

On 1 August, the European Parliament’s (EP) Economic and Financial Affairs Committee (ECON) published its amendments (AMs 206-412413-596597-804) to the European Commission’s (EC) Solvency II proposal. These are in addition to the 205 AMs proposed by rapporteur Markus Ferber in his draft report which was published on 6 June.

The secretariat of Insurance Europe has assessed the proposed AMs and prepared an overview with the key amendments to facilitate members’ future engagement. Members will find below the secretariat’s high-level assessment per topic of the amendments (including MEP Ferber’s amendments) and in the annex a more detailed analysis of MEPs’ proposed amendments.

On the 31 August, the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) of the European Parliament discussed the amendments in relation to the draft reports on the Solvency II review and the Insurance Recovery and Resolution Directive (IRRD) proposals.
