The European Commission presented a new Capital Markets Union (CMU) package

On 25 November, the European Commission presented a new Capital Markets Union (CMU) package, including:

  • proposal for the establishment of a European Single Access Point (ESAP)
  • proposal for the review of the European long-term investment funds (ELTIF) regulation
  • communication on the CMU
  • proposal on the adjustments of the Markets in Financial Instruments Regulation (MIFIR)
  • proposal on the review of the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD)

Next steps

  • The initiatives now need to be agreed and adopted by the Council and the European Parliament.
  • The secretariat will follow-up with members after an initial assessment of the proposals is made.
