Insurance Europe – Letter to EIOPA and Commission on IGS stakeholder engagement process
Insueance Europe has received the response from Petra Hielkema, Chairperson, EIOPA, to letter regarding the stakeholder engagement process around the assessment of potential minimum harmonisation of Insurance Guarantee Schemes (IGS).
The key points made are:
- EIOPA intends to continue seeking stakeholder views via a public consultation during the second quarter of 2026 and, potentially, a consultation workshop in May/June, along with bilateral meetings with national associations.
- EIOPA’s advice will include a cost / benefit comparison for each potentially envisaged policy option for IGS. However, a comprehensive quantitative impact assessment would fall primarily within the remit and mandate of the European Commission at a later stage.
- Industry’s input to date is welcomed and further engagement encouraged.
