The secretariat of Insurance Europe would like to inform you that the European Commission has acknowledged receipt of the position paper on the difference between insurance premiums and fees. Contextually, the EC has also informed the secretariat that due to the complexity and the scope of the project, the timing of the VAT review has been extended and a legislative proposal will not be tabled before 2022/2023. The EC has also said that they will keep stakeholders informed about the next stages, which may include further consultation.
The secretariat of Insurance Europe will continue monitoring the issue and keep members of the WG informed.
