EIOPA is organising a Workshop on the 2020 Review of Solvency II as part of the process of drafting technical advice to the European Commission. The Workshop will deal with the long-term guarantee measures and measures on equity risk (including the treatment of illiquid liabilities and the dynamic volatility adjustment), the macro-prudential policy in insurance and insurance guarantee schemes.
The objective of the workshop is to inform stakeholders and discuss with them about EIOPA’s work on the technical advice for the 2020 review with regard to these topics.
Background information:
Until 2020 a comprehensive review of Solvency II will be carried out. In February 2019 the European Commission asked EIOPA to provide technical advice for that review by June 2020 (see https://ec.europa.eu/info/files/190211-request-eiopa-technical-advice-review-solvency-2_en). The request covers a broad range of topics from all three pillars of Solvency II. EIOPA’s technical advice will be publically consulted. The main consultation will take place from November 2019 to January 2020. Draft technical advice on reporting and disclosure will already be consulted from mid-July to mid-October 2019.
A second workshop on other topics from the 2020 review is in preparation for mid-July 2019.
