The CFO Forum has made the decision to identify a limited number of the outstanding issues in relation to IFRS 17 as political issues to be communicated to the Commission. The two core political issues identified are Transition and Level of Aggregation” with “Presentation” as a potential third issue. The CFO Forum plans to cover all the 11 agreed areas of concern in their feedback to the Exposure Draft consultation, but this represents a change of strategy.
The Financial Reporting Working Group recommends to ECOFIN that Insurance Europe supports the CFO Forum approach on the political issues but also that Insurance Europe should continue to seek a 2-year delay (the CFO Forum continues to remain silent on this issue).
